This is my makeover show Fabulous Ms. Anonymous. I tried to take everyone’s comments and suggestions and make the changes accordingly. My goal was to make you know from the opening graphics what exactly this show is about. I hope I was able to do that. Enjoy!
This project is a pitch idea for a television show of getting over your ultimate weakness, that takes over your life. The host is a weird looking German, and the first guest is a girl who has an obsession with hats.

Being the Difference is a reality television show that documents a participants journey to a third world country. It highlights the importance of actually “being there” even though there are many essential things that people need. Following participants on their journey, Being the Difference shows how everyday people leading everyday lives, can effect and even change the lives of others
The Title of my project is called Art Verbality and the topic deals with spoken word artists in urban cities. This episode happens to be in New York and there are two artist that will be covered. The first Artist goes by the name of Jay Nova and the Second Goes by Jonathan Lamour. Both deal with different facets of poetry, one who is a spoken word artist and the other a rapper.
The name of my show is “UndaRated NYC”, This is a hip-hop show, a little similar to “Yo! MTV Raps” or even BET’s “Rap City” but more on a 2012 style, with more in depth documentary style interviews, and also using a unique cinematography scenery.
The look I was going for was real gritty, grungy, and authentic, just a real NYC look.
I used a grungy texture in the text for a more unique font, I also used a camera to make the text a 3d layer in the Z space, I used this process for “The Intro”, “Lower Thirds”, “Info Graphics”, and “The Credits” to keep the same theme through out my show.
Outta the page is a show consisting of everything comic book related, from movies, video games, T.V shows and other media or merchandise related to comic books. It’s suppose to be informative and a review/preview segment type of show. I don’t want it to be a show where new people get excited for what the host is talking about or to introduce anything to a new audience, I want the show to reach out to an established audience who are fans who know the material and that’s my main demographic. For the look of the show, it had to feel very comic bookish, but i wanted to play homage to vintage comic books in terms of color. i wanted the colors to look dyed out in parts while very expressive in others, like in the info graphic. Overall, i think my established audience of fans and comic book readers should be able to find this show informative and fun because its a multimedia solution to what goes on in internet forums and chatrooms.
The name of my show is Let’s Talk Shows, a talk show about today’s tv shows, movies, and cartoons… What makes them good, what makes them interesting, what makes them bad. Within my project you see the graphics package for the show which includes a brief preview of the lower thirds, Information Graphics and credits. The process of making this was long and tiring at times however, I did put a lot of work into this project and I’m proud of it.
The name of my show is Passing the Rock: Around the NBA. The show is a countdown of the top ten plays of the last NBA season. The show is inspired by such highlight and recap shows such as Sports Center and NBA Gametime. The project can also be seen on my tumblr:
Part four of this project will be the most subjective analysis of your work to date. Similar to the midterm, you will not only be evaluated on the deadline & project requirements.. but subjectively by your peers as well. What does this mean? Well, 25 points (1/3rd) of your final grade for this project will be evaluated by not only myself, but the rest of the class as well.
You will be posting a single video to the blog. This video that you upload to the blog should be between 45 seconds and 1 minute 30 seconds total. Please be sure to “fade to black” in between each of the following segments. The video should be assembled in the following order:
Your Graphic opening, complete with final music, color correction, compositing and backgroundvideo.

Info-graphics inserted into your show
Credit sequence for your show

The final product needs to be informative, legible, and convey the quality/topic of the show (Please see below)
The Subjective analysis of this portion of the final will be evaluated by by myself, and your peers in class. This will be through a ballot system where everyone will (privately) evaluate each others work based on the following criteria:
How legible was the video? Could your read all of the relevant information. (1-4 points possible)
By only looking at the graphics, could you tell what the show was about?(0-2 points possible)
Would you watch this show? (0-2 points possible)
How would you rate the quality of the show graphics? How good did they look? (1-15 points possible)
If you only watched the open, would you watch the show as well? (0-2 points possible)
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. I will be available via email. dphelps (at) york (dot)cuny (dot) edu. GOOD LUCK!
This is the opening to my show, Passing The Rock. This is just a montage to build up hype, as the process I used was to bank off the emotion in the first few clips. From there, I go into a couple of highlights. The music in the background is the instrumental of the song Basketball by Kurtis Blow, which of course is a song that is still associated with basketball today. The first clips build emotion and the next few clips are action shots that make fans want to watch the show, in the same fashion any sports highlights show would do.
This is the segment with my host. Just basically welcoming the viewers to my highlights package, includes lower third.
This is the top ten plays from last season segment. My info graphic is just numbers of the countdown. Keeping it simple in the form of Sportscenter.
Outro with the host. the lower third appears again as well as end credits that scroll across the screen.

Intro Video- The Title of my project is called Art verbality and the topic deals with spoken word artists in urban cities but for this episode the city that I will focus on will be New York. The art direction that I am aiming for the show is very gritty and desaturated to give that city feel to the viewers.

The show opens up with a flicking light and the moving images come up and the title appears from the wall.
the lower third rough draft:
As the host walks into the screen, and introduce himself, the graphics appear. I don’t want to wright host, so any suggestions? on what to write above the name?
the informational graphics rough draft:
The informational graphics would come up when the host gives a brief description of the first guest and the picture appears, when the photo is to the right the information would come up as well. I am missing an audio when the information graphics appear.
the ending sequence rough draft:
This ending sequence is having the host walk away from the screen and the names would come up on the screen. Has the same feel for the beginning.
Here is my very Rough Cut of my graphics package for my talk. Just a reminder, My show is about today’s tv shows, movies, and cartoons… What makes them good, what makes them interesting, what makes them bad. I apologize all is in one mov file but I had some technical difficulties but will be fixed pronto. The first video is the opening of the show. You have two guys arguing over remote and as they are tugging back and forth, the channel switches from one to another. So you hear the intro songs for each show which adds effect as if channels are switching as they fight to watch their own shows.
(Finally I was able to upload the individual videos)
The second clip in which opening ends and goes right into introduction of host and what the show will be about today. the lower third comes in as a slide for roughly 4 seconds and fades off screen in different directions after.
The third clip is the information graphics…here the host talks about daily feeds from twitter and facebook. So the main things you see pop on screen is the contact information allowing viewers to read and see the information. Before done talking, the information fades off.
the fourth clip is the credits. As host starts to say goodbye and mentioning what will be on next week show, the bottom of screen are the credits. fades in and out, have three columns, and text is plain but still readable to viewers
For the closing credits, i still need to work with. nut i want it to look like the audience is looking in the back of a comic book with the panels on the side while still keeping the background. and the choice of music is just basically keeping the theme of the opening as it’s theme song and having it come full circle until the end. The look and feel remains intact throughout the whole show, and it is suppose to feel like you’ve reached the end of a comic book.
I didn’t want to do too much on purpose with the information graphic, but still keep the feel of the whole show and topic of it. the choice of using talk bubbles is a pretty easy one, its creating enough space while making the design very basic. but again, i wanted to play with the colors and text just to keep the tone and topic intact. the choice of music is a little more electronic because of the review segment of the video game. each segment would follow its own tone in music based on whats being discussed.
I wanted the lower third to resemble comic book panels and action boxes. The text itself within the panel is a comic book based text, where the audience can feel like the show has a comic book feel. It’s vintage, but also fresh and simple yet pops out. I used yellow and red because those are the colors that pop out the most in comic book panels, especially back in the old days, and i wanted to play with the look a little and make it fit the show.
For the opening, i wanted to make it as simple and basic as possible. The swooshing and passing by of the comics is a basic summary of the main discussion of the show. with the heroic music, it is no question, that this show is a love letter to comic book readers and lovers everywhere and definitely sets the demographic of the hardcore readers and teenage range group
The premise for my show is a review/ preview segment concerning anything comic book related. From movies, to graphic novels and video games, even merchandise, the show Outta the Page is about anything that concerns the comic book world and inside coverage of releases. In the rough cut presented, i kept it as basic as possible, from the opening i show you exactly what the show covers and as for my background, i kept it blurry to give it depth of field but also a reminder of what the show will be about. The information graphics, and lower thirds are similar in style, if not directly copied from what a comic book would look like. I want the show to have a fun, fast appeal and tone. Keep my demographic audience attention at all times with images and heroic related music.
